TU Delft in top 10 in sustainability ranking for higher education
TU Delft is ranked at spot 8 in the 'SustainaBul', the sustainability ranking for Dutch higher education institutions. This was announced on Friday 26 May 2023 during the presentation of the annual 'SustainaBul Awards'. The award ceremony is part of 'de Groene Peper', the sustainability event for education and is organised by student network Studenten voor Morgen.
Deirdre van Gameren, Sustainability Project Manager at TU Delft: "We are making our campus more sustainable in all themes on TU Delft Campus. We are not at our goal yet, but this spot in the ranking shows that we are making great steps.” TU Delft's ambition is to be carbon neutral, climate-adaptive and circular by 2030, with contribution on quality of life and biodiversity.
Sustainability in different themes
TU Delft is working on different themes to achieve its sustainability ambition. "Every university has sustainability coordinators. With them we talk about different topics, such as mobility, biodiversity, circularity, reporting, food, and buildings," Deirdre says. In addition to these coordinators, Green Offices, such as GreenTU, also continue to engage with students. This year, GreenTU worked with Deirdre to fulfill the sustainability ranking for TU Delft.
The SustainaBul
The SustainaBul Award is a sustainability ranking for higher education. The award ceremony in NHL Stenden Leeuwarden, is organised by Students for Tomorrow and part of the sustainability event, the Groene Peper. GreenTU and Deirdre attended the Groene Peper on behalf of TU Delft.
Assessment
The assessment of the ranking is based on a questionnaire. It consists of three themes: research, education and operations in the field of sustainability. For TU Delft, the focus is on the Vision Ambition and Action Plan, sustainability in education, the Green Teams at each faculty and on climate neutrality and circularity on TU Delft Campus.
