Bird watching during Biodiversity Tour on campus on 1 November; sign up!
On Wednesday 1 November, during National Climate Week, our colleagues René Hoonhout and Tim Tabak, together with nature experts Gerard Kuit of Natuurlijk Delfland, will give guided tours to staff and students to spot birds together on campus.
Monitoring
On 22 May 2023, TU Delft introduced its collaboration with nature platform Waarneming.nl with the aim of identifying 1000 different species in one year. With the app ObsIdentify, which is part of the platform Waarneming.nl, you can easily identify plants, animals and organisms anywhere. The observations are automatically published on Waarneming.nl, directly contributing to increasing knowledge of various species. Since then, TU Delft staff and students have been asked to discover as many species of animals, plants and organisms as possible on the campus. The current view of the monitoring of biodiversity, you can see here.
By monitoring the biodiversity on campus, TU Delft can purposefully green the campus and enhance biodiversity. Improving biodiversity and quality of life is part of TU Delft's sustainability plans to be CO2-neutral, climate-adaptive and circular by 2030.
