An Education Hackathon Pilot – working together to make education more sustainable
On Thursday 30 November 2023, GreenTU organized an Education Hackathon Pilot. Students and staff started conversations about Sustainability in Education. Together they formed new insights, viewpoints and they created more vision about the engineer of the future.
TU Delft's ambition is to be carbon neutral, climate-adaptive and circular by 2030, with a focus on biodiversity and quality of life. The university is opening its campus as a testing ground for innovations, where the power of the engineer, designer, scientist, government, and business come together. To educate the engineer of the future, it is important that the theme of Sustainability is integrated into the education at TU Delft.
The Pilot
‘What does the education of the engineer of the future look like? What perspectives on the topic sustainability within education are there?’, questions that are addressed during the pilot. To organize an Education Hackathon, Javier Trescoli Garcia and Alice Biolchini of GreenTU are curious about the different perspectives on sustainability in education. 'During the pilot, there was a safe atmosphere, which allowed us to have good conversations with each other. It's great to see that everyone is enthusiastic to talk about sustainable education,' says Javier.
Next steps
Through this interactive workshop, the Sustainability Team and GreenTU will continue working on a roadmap for sustainable education at TU Delft. This roadmap will include various steps and approaches to implement the theme of sustainability in current education.
