TU Delft participates in National Climate Week
From 28 October to 5 November, it is National Climate Week with the slogan 'everyone does something'. TU Delft, as a climate university, is fully participating, because attention to the climate is more urgent than ever.
The National Climate Week (NKW) is an initiative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy to inspire citizens and organizations to commit to a better climate. During this national campaign the Ministry informs, activates and mobilizes citizens, businesses and civil society organizations to show how they contribute to the climate objectives. The Ministry also wants to show what is happening to realize the climate objectives.
Climate Action
The Delft Climate Programme fits in perfectly with National Climate Week. In the coming ten years TU Delft will be investing a total of 22 million euros in climate research and teaching, and even more in making its own campus more sustainable, enabling it to function as a living lab for sustainability solutions. On the Campus in The Hague, TU Delft recently opened its Climate Action Hub in the Wijnhaven building on September 24. The Climate Action Hub is a physical meeting place where administrators and policy makers, knowledge institutions, citizens and businesses can work together on concrete solutions to climate challenges.
Everyone does something
During the National Climate Week, we will make visible the contributions that we, as a climate university, make. In the hall of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, innovations such as the Flying-V, Tiler and the Lettuce wall are on display. Tonight, October 28, 9:30 p.m., the campus-recorded Climate Quiz 2021 can be seen on NPO, in which Harm Edens tests two teams on their knowledge about the state of the climate. Science journalist Anna Gimbrère shows what is already possible in the fight against climate change. The Open Science Community Delft organizes a Zoom meeting on November 5 about the challenges and opportunities in working with climate data. Keep an eye on the social media channels for all activities and climate stories from Delft scientists.
