Special topic school on Waves and Transducers started
Last week, the IEEE-UFFC-S Special topic school on Waves and Transducers started. Thirty “students” with a back-ground varying from astrophysics to biomedical ultrasound, from theoreticians to experimentalists, from academia to industry have gathered together to follow this special topic school.
Over a period of 10 days, lecturers from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, University of Glasgow, FUJIFILM VisualSonics, Inc., University of Toronto, and TU Delft provide a series of lectures on ultrasound technology. To overcome the travel limitations - the students come from Canada and South America - we have set up a fully online course where the students received a package prior to the start of the course with all the materials needed to follow the course. Basically, the package contained all kind of materials needed to build their your own ultrasound transducer and scanning system back at home.
Although the course hasn’t finished yet, it is already considered to be a great success. The course is receiving a lot of attention from amongst others the IEEE-UFFC community. Because of the success in previous years, the IEEE-UFFC society has sponsored the school financially in a very generous way.
