Education platform launched for professionals in optics and photonics

The Lifelong Optics Learning training platform has been set up for professionals in optics and photonics and offers practical, testable and modular education at MBO, HBO and Academic level. The project has been subsidized by the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs.

The Lifelong Optics Learning platform is a collaboration between TUDelft, the Leidse Instrumentmakers School (LiS) and The Hague University of Applied Sciences (HHS) and in the beginning with four SMEs (Hyperion, DJM, Admesy and Optics11) that play a pioneering role in the inventory and design of the education curriculum for this platform

Optical specialists from TNO and the above-mentioned educational institutions will do a "busiess scan" at the involved companies to deliver customized solutions. The results of this screening will be used in the education curriculum of the platform.

The curriculum will consist of (online) lectures and training courses with self-study, experiments and practical assignments. A team of teachers in the field of optics and photonics will test the acquired knowledge and skills.The curriculum will be kept up-to-date by the recurring business scans.
