Online course: Pre-university Pysics
On August 3rd, 2020 the new online course “Pre-university Physics” will start. The instructors Jeroen Kalkman, Liedewij Laan, Sander Otte and Timon Idema will guide prospective students into the academic approach of physics. The course consists of three modules: mechanics, electricity & magnetism, and waves.
Technology and innovation are more important to our society than ever before. Physics allows us to understand both everyday phenomena as well as the latest technology: from acoustic guitar music to the 5G network. Therefore, knowledge of physics is essential to many university engineering programs.
About the course
This online course is a nice introduction to the academic approach of physics, which is more abstract and mathematical. At the same time, it reviews the physics that is covered in high school (VWO). The course consists of three modules: mechanics, electricity & magnetism, and waves. You will learn how apply this knowledge in order to solve physics-related problems. Once you have completed the course you can be assured that you are well-prepared for university.
Course structure
Modules consists of several parts. Each part starts with one or two short movie clips explaining the theory and working through some practical examples. Next, you can work on some exercises yourself, during which experienced Applied Physics students are available online to answer your questions. We close each part with an inside look into university, an inspirational movie or a Do-It-Yourself home assignment.
