IAWA scholarship 2020 for Giulia Gatti
Master student Giulia Gatti has been awarded the IAWA scholarship 2020 for TU students. This scholarship is awarded annually by International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA) to support women pursuing studies in aviation or aerospace related fields. This week, Giulia and students from other universities who have received an IAWA scholarship will be introduced during the 32nd annual IAWA conference on 14 and 15 October.
Giulia is currently working towards her Master’s in Aerospace Control and Simulation with a concentration in automatic and autonomous systems. What pushed Giulia to undertake this master was the possibility to work towards more efficient solutions to everyday tasks thanks to concepts like artificial intelligence. In the near future she hopes to find an internship abroad in the field of deep learning and artificial intelligence so to be able to put her studies into practice.
“On the website of IAWA I saw a lot of woman in high positions and you don’t see that so much. Everyone in this sector is very ambitions, and to see a lot of woman who manage to reach those positions in a field that is so much dominated by man –in engineering in general, not just aerospace – is very inspiring. Although a lot of events will be online this year I really hope to be able to build a network and who knows I’ll get to go in person next year” says Giulia Gatti.
