Two TU Delft Global projects granted by NWO
In the second call of the joint SDG research programme of NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development and Dutch co-funding research organisations two projects from TU Delft | Global Initiative were granted funding. This programme funds use-inspired research to the benefit of the most vulnerable people in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
The TUD projects:
Addis Ababa Living Lab: Creating Resilient Dwelling Clusters for Urban Resettlement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia [2ALL]
Main applicant: Prof. ir. M.G. Elsinga (TUD)
The aim of this project is to improve the livelihood of Addis Ababa’s urban dwellers using transdisciplinary approaches of analysis, planning and design. A contextually new co-creation model will be used.
A team of three junior researchers from Addis Abbaba University and TU Delft will we working on this project for the next four years.
INSPiRED – INclusive diagnoStics for Poverty RElated parasitic Diseases in Nigeria and Gabon
Main applicants: Dr E.A. van Lieshout (lead) & Dr J.C. Diehl (UL/TUD)
This project aims to improve the diagnosis of three major poverty-related diseases (malaria, schistosomiasis and hookworm infection) and reduce their grave impact in endemic countries.
A team of seven junior researchers from the Netherlands, Nigeria and Gabon will be working on this project for the next four years.
