TU Delft rises in THE ranking
TU Delft is 58th in the global Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking this year, an increase of five places. This makes TU Delft the highest-ranked Dutch university. University rankings are frequently consulted by international students and scientists who want to study or work abroad.
'Great compliment'
Tim van der Hagen, Rector Magnificus / Chairman of the Board of TU Delft, is pleased with this strong position: 'TU Delft is obviously proud to be the highest ranked Dutch university in the THE ranking as well as in the QS ranking published in June. Each ranking is differently composed and has its own advantages and limitations, but high quotations in leading rankings are important for attracting top international talent. In order to conduct research and teach at a high level, we need to continue to attract talent from the Netherlands and abroad, and such rankings help in this. In addition, it is of course also a great compliment for all employees of the university.'
Reputation is important
The THE Ranking, together with the Shanghai ranking and the QS ranking, belongs to the leading rankings in the world. The Times Higher Education ranking has been released since 2010. Since then, TU Delft climbed from position 151 (2010) to 58 this year. The THE ranking compared more than 1250 universities from 86 countries from all over the world this year. In addition, five main components were examined: research (30%), education (30%), citations (30%), internationalization (7.5%) and income from industry (2.5%). In all, THE looks at 13 sub-indicators. Reputation is an important indicator in the areas of research and education. Times Higher Education published the World Reputation Ranking in May; In this, TU Delft is in a shared 51-60th place worldwide, just like in previous years.
