Martin Verweij joined trade mission to India

Martin Verweij joined the trade mission to India (May 22-25). Accompanied by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the delegation visited Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The mission focused on maritime trade, agrifood, ICT, life sciences & health, and smart cities.

In addition to Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the India trade mission will be attended by the minister for foreign trade and development cooperation, Sigrid Kaag – as well as the minister of agriculture, nature and food quality, Carola Schouten. Also joining will be Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (minister of infrastructure and water management) and Bruno Bruins (minister of medical care).

The trade mission is based on the following industries:  

  • Life sciences & health (Delhi and Bangalore): this programme has a special focus on e-health, MedTech, medical devices, public health and biopharma.
  • Water, logistics and maritime (Delhi and Mumbai)
  • Agrifood and horticulture (Delhi and Mumbai)
  • High tech / ICT (Delhi and Bangalore)
  • Smart cities (Delhi and Bangalore)

Martin Verweij and his team are already cooperating with India on their new project: "Imaging Needles". Hopefully this mission will further strengthen the collaborations between India and the Netherlands on life-science and health.
