Three BK alumni in the race for NRP Master Award 2018
Three BK alumni compete for the award for upcoming talent with good and new ideas towards transformation and renovation. On 31 October 2018, Hedwig van der Linden, Lauren Boots, and Nikkie de Boer will hear which of the five candidates has won the NRP Master Award 2018.
The NRP is a platform for transformation and renovation. The network works together with partners to create preconditions, to make it more attractive to invest in redevelopment and existing real estate. The annual NRP Master Award offers upcoming talent the opportunity to directly present their new ideas towards transformation and renovation to the professional field. This gives a new generation of professionals the chance to share their original and innovative ideas. The nominees present their master thesis to the judges, and will hear who the winner is on 31 October. Find the full programme for the award ceremony here (Dutch only).
Hedwig van der Linden graduated with her master thesis ‘Expeditie Rotterdam: of de ontdekkingstocht naar de verborgen Wederopbouwstad’. She researched how the expedition building blocks in post-war Rotterdam can be modernised, without taking away from the identity of the post-war city.
Lauren Boots researched how continuous urban transformations can be shown with his master thesis ‘Stadtbauhütte’. He designed the Stadtbauhütte in the city of Delft within an existing building, to give space to people who work on restoring and transforming the city of Delft and to let them share their work with the users of the city.
Nikkie de Boer focussed on the physical improvement of post-war walk-up apartments in her master thesis ‘The future of the walk-up apartment’. She researched how this dwelling typology can be connected with material flows in the city, to create a sustainable combination of environment, economy, and technology.
