Grants awarded: the Sustainable Urbanisation Global Initiative (SUGI) includes 15 research projects focused on creating innovative and integrated solutions on the nexus between food, water, and energy. Amongst others, the M-NEX project from AE&T has been awarded funding to start work on 1 April.
The Moveable Nexus (M-NEX) will focus on developing and designing a mobile facility able to produce food and clean potable water, working self-sustainable in term of energy production. The M-NEX can be used in urban situations where the necessity for food and water is eminent: for refugees, in case of natural disasters, technical blackouts, etc. Part of the project entails the organization of six workshops in Sydney, Qatar, Japan, Michigan, Belfast, and Amsterdam.
