Mitigating value conflicts in business strategies
An open access tutorial will be developed to help creative professionals mitigate value conflicts in their business strategies. The joint research between BK Bouwkunde and Industrial Engineering will result in a tutorial that will facilitate students and professionals in uncovering, visualising, and reconciling conflicts between creating value and capturing value in their daily work.
The tutorial will be developed by Marina Bos-de Vos (PIM, IO), John Heintz (MBE), and Thijs Asselbergs (AE+T), in close collaboration with communication advisor Marc de Kool (IO) and national and international contacts from educational institutes and creative practices. A grant from the TU Delft Design for Values Institute Open Subsidy 2018 makes it possible to create the open access tutorial. Marina Bos-de Vos finished her PhD on the same topic as a part of the FuturA project. The results and the toolkit developed in both research projects will be exploited to build the tutorial. Creative professionals focusing on designing for client and stakeholder values often struggle to transform their work into sustainable businesses that are aligned with their professional identity. The tutorial and toolkit will be easy to incorporate into courses or to be used by professionals to allow anybody to teach or practice designing for values in a financially and professionally responsible manner. The tutorial should be finished and launched online Spring 2019.
