Positions

There are open positions for BSc and MSc students with backgrounds ranging from microbiology to physics. If you are looking for a PhD or post-doctoral position, there are several open PhD and PD positions with the EVOLF consortium within the Laan Lab, please contact Liedewij to explore possibilities.

Possible research directions are:

• Predicting evolutionary trajectories by combining experimental evolution in budding yeast, whole genome and transposon sequencing and machine learning. For more information contact Liedewij, L.Laan@tudelft.nl
• Fluorescence microscopy to unravel biophysical and biochemical changes underlying adaptation of the yeast polarization machinery during evolution. For more information contact Marieke, M.M.Glazenburg@tudelft.nl
• Establishing a minimal in vitro system to study the dynamics and adaptability of a GTPase network. For more information contact Nynke, N.M.Hettema@tudelft.nl
• Ideas for other projects in line with the lab's interest are very welcome as well.  

Specific BEP/MEP projects:

• MEP project: Conceptual mapping of the relation between self-organization and natural selection in evolution.
• MEP project: A neural network for 3D segmentation of fluorescent yeast images.
• BEP/MEP project: Protein interaction network reconstruction with 3D resolution using computational tools, this is a collaborative project with Nikolina Šoštarić
• New protein functions in a stochastic yeast-polarization model
• In vitro characterization of membrane binding of yeast polarity proteins
