Membership Criteria

We invite you to join Delft Young Academy (DYA) if you are scientific staff who completed your PhD within the last 10 years and hold a minimum contract of 0.6 FTE at TU Delft. As a member, you will be part of a vibrant community of early career researchers, contributing to important discussions and initiatives that shape the academic landscape at TU Delft.

Levels of Involvement

At Delft Young Academy (DYA), there are various levels of commitment for those who wish to engage with our community.

  • Core members: These are individuals who take on a leadership role by becoming a board member, directly shaping the direction and initiatives of DYA. If you thrive in dynamic environments and want to make a significant impact in the academic world, consider applying to join the board. The application process typically opens in the third quarter of 2025, offering a great opportunity to actively steer the organization's work and engage with key issues facing early career researchers.
  • Active contributors: These members take on a proactive role in leading initiatives and projects for DYA. They help organize events, contribute to the development of position papers, and take charge of community engagement activities. As an active contributor, you'll play an integral part in shaping DYA’s work, helping to drive forward initiatives that matter to the early career researcher community.
  • Community members: These individuals engage with DYA by attending events, lectures, and participating in team discussions. Community members are an essential part of the network, contributing their insights and benefiting from the rich opportunities for learning, networking, and development that DYA offers.
  • Non-member activities: Even if you are not a formal member, you can still participate in some of DYA’s activities, such as attending lunches, taking part in surveys, and receiving newsletters. This allows you to stay informed about the latest developments within the community and the wider academic landscape.

No matter the level of involvement, DYA welcomes everyone who wants to connect, contribute, and be part of the conversation that shapes the future of early career research at TU Delft.
