Well-known examples of Geomatics applications doing spatial analyses (GIS) in 2D and 3D. For example, it allows you to assess the distribution of noise (air pollution, noise pollution, light pollution and similar) and the influence of buildings on this distribution. Students also designed algorithms to find the most likely location of plastics hotspots.

Integrated Product Design (IDE)

IPD offers a large range of different types of assignments, including digital society-related topics, for example designing applications to implement virtual reality in our society.

Engineering & Policy Analysis (TPM)

The digital society holds promises to improve policymaking, but it is also subject to policymaking because of its societal risks. The EPA programme takes both the promises and risks into account, through an analytical and political lens.

Aerospace Engineering: Aerospace Structures & Materials (AE)

Did you know that some materials can autonomously signal that maintenance is needed or that there is a weakness in the production process? Smart manufacturing is a topic that some researchers and alumni of this track are working on.

Hoe ontwerp je voorwerpen met een intentie?

Slimme voorwerpen zijn pas slim wanneer ze zinvolle relaties met hun omgeving aangaan. Het ontwerpen van slimme voorwerpen voor het alledaagse leven vraagt om een nieuwe aanpak: niet langer gericht op één voorwerp en één gebruiker, maar op een ecologisch systeem van talloze voorwerpen en gebruikers. Die aanpak staat centraal in het nieuwe Delft Design Lab for Expressive Intelligence en het net verschenen boek ‘Designing Smart Objects in Everyday Life’.

Francisco Garrido-Valenzuela is a Ph.D. candidate at CiTyAI Lab of TPM & CEG faculties. His research focuses on improve the current understanding of what elements and conditions of urban space are important determinants when people engage in healthy activities (e.g., social interactions or physical activity) to support urban planners designing neighborhoods and cities.
