Davit Petrosyan

My name is Davit Petrosyan. I studied Applied Physics at TU Delft from September 2021 to May 2023. I developed an interest in physics during high school and was studying an MSc in Engineering Physics in Sweden. After finishing my Bachelor's studies, I wanted to study for an exchange semester at TU Delft. I chose the Quantum Devices and Quantum Computing track of the Applied Physics programme because it is one of the leading universities in this field.

The level of education and the course content exceeded my expectations. I learned about the physics of mesoscopic devices and quantum transport efficiently and in an engaging way. The courses were challenging but never overwhelming thanks to great friends and colleagues. I decided to extend my exchange to two semesters and enrolled in the Applied Physics programme. I had great support from the international office and programme coordinator, Mr. Arno Haket.

What impressed me most at TU Delft was the level of academic research being conducted. This became clear to me while doing my Master's thesis in Prof. Herre van der Zant’s lab. I had excellent supervision from him and my daily supervisor Dr. Talieh Ghiasi, and I quickly learned the necessities of conducting cutting-edge research.

Finally, TU Delft offers lots of activities for students, apart from the excellent course curriculum. Some of my best memories are from sports and piano classes and watching the football World Cup finals in 2022 with hundreds of other students.

My MSc from TU Delft helps me a lot in my PhD at ETH Zurich. I'm lucky to have studied there.
