Selection procedure

In order to participate in the selection procedure, you must register yourself in the Dutch national application system Studielink no later than 15 January 2025 (23:59 CET). In case of an international secondary school diploma, please make sure that by this date your application in the TU Delft registration system Osiaan is also finalized. On 24 January 2025, applicants will receive an email with more information about the start of the selection procedure. As of this date, candidates will be given access to a Digital Learning Environment, an online platform which will be the central hub for the selection procedure. The platform will contain extensive video material in order to familiarize yourself with the field of Aerospace Engineering and the bachelor programme in Delft, so that you can make a well-informed decision about your personal fit to the study. On the platform, you can also strengthen your fundamental knowledge in mathematics and physics, and use our Math & Physics level test to demonstrate the skills needed for our programme. Specific study material for the selection exam will also be published here, so that you can commence learning right away. This phase is conducted to assess your suitability to be an aerospace student at TU Delft, but is not graded and thus will have no part in determining your ranking number. However, in order to proceed with the selection process, it is compulsory to have completed all of the mandatory matching assignments within the Digital Learning Environment by 20 February 2025, 13:59 CET.

After having completed the steps above, you will be invited to complete two tests, one about your personal study motivation and a personality test focused on your behaviour in study situations. The deadline for completion is 3 March 2025, 13:59 CET. Completing these two tests in full is a prerequisite for participating in the selection exam. The answers you provide will make up your score for the selection criterion Academic Aptitude. There is no need to prepare for this part of the selection process.

12 March 2025 candidates will have to participate in our selection exam. The exact time and further details will be communicated to candidates during the selection process. Candidates will be tested on their knowledge of mathematics, physics, and the first-year Aerospace Engineering topics that are being made available to them as study material in the Digital Learning Environment. The selection exam will be conducted using online proctoring, meaning that you and your screen are being recorded for remote invigilance. The selection exam will provide you with a score for the selection criterion Academic Performance.

In regards to the goal of continuously refining and enhancing this process, we want to gather feedback on the selection procedure for the bachelor’s programme. To achieve this, we ask applicants to fill out our evaluation survey, which input is invaluable in helping us identify areas for improvement. The evaluation survey will be shared with the applicants on 19 March 2025. The survey is open for two weeks. Completing the survey is highly appreciated but it is not compulsory to receive a ranking number. 

If you complete the selection procedure, you will receive a ranking number based on your results. We have many more qualified and interested candidates for our programme than our capacity allows. The scores in the selection procedure are largely based on a candidate's performance relative to other candidates, where higher scores result in better (= lower) ranking numbers. Your ranking number will be emailed to you by Studielink on 15 April 2025. Keep an eye on your email, including your spam box. If your ranking number falls in the lowest 440 ranking numbers, you will immediately be offered a place on our study programme.

If the ranking number you have been appointed is higher than the number of places available (440), it is still possible to be allocated a place if another candidate declines their placement offer. If you are not allocated a place for the year 2025-2026, a total maximum of three times is allowed for participation in the selection procedure for our bachelor's degree programme.
