Bridging scales in electrochemical reactor design
Design of an optimal reactor for CO2 electrochemical reduction to formic acid (HCOOH). A multiscale modelling approach is to be adopted in order to identify and optimize sensitive parameters at different length scales. An important role is envisaged for a meso-scale sub-model, which allows us to connect the intrinsic kinetics and diffusivities at the molecular scale to correlations for effective reaction rates and diffusivities at larger scales, such as through porous electrodes, macro-pores, and narrow slits.
