Sailing is a water sport that anyone – old and young, beginner and expert – can do. You can do it just for fun, or even take part in competitions. To be a good sailor, you need to master a lot of techniques, have good judgement and coordination skills, and know the rules on the water. In a strong wind sailing can be a real physical challenge, but it can also be very relaxing at the same time. Not only does an active day on the water, being propelled by the wind, give you a tremendous energy boost – it also feels like you are on holiday!
Competition sailing association D.S.W.Z. Broach organizes sailing training sessions in cooperation with X. The association organises training days that are completely focused on a specific training goal, for example, learning and improving manoeuvres, communication and tactics.
Training sessions usually start with a few exercises to get you warmed up. You then work through a number of exercises which are specially designed to help you meet your training goal. The training sessions often end with a practice race. Experienced competition racers coach novice racers, and always accompany beginners in their boat. For experienced racers, the coach often sails alongside in a rubber boat.
