The electric guitar is one of the most popular and versatile instruments. They are suited for varying music styles like rock, blues, pop and jazz. There are many different brands and kinds of electric guitars and their sound varies from one to the other depending on the type of wood, shape and pickups and of course the player him or herself. The electric guitar traces its history to the beginning of the 1930 when microphones (pickups) were added to the acoustic steel string guitar. Since then, some of the most outstanding musicians contributed to the music industry by performing, composing and recording with this instrument. Some of the most outstanding guitarists throughout the history are: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, BB King, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, Wes Montgomery and many more.
At the individual electric guitar course you will get all the information and guidance in order to progress and reach your full potential with playing the electric guitar. During the lessons the main focus will be on the weak points of your playing. That will be done by learning new songs, techniques, theory and whatever is required in order for you to progress. Each student will receive a suggested program on what will be the main focus in the course. This will be done by discussing together with the teacher the goals and the expectations from the student and the teacher. Common subjects that can be discussed in the course - Scales, different techniques, improvisation, Rhythm, Theory, Pedals (sounds), different music styles etc.

Junhyung An
Born in Busan, South Korea, guitarist Junhyung relocated to the Netherlands in 2007 to study jazz guitar at Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam and won a prize from the Dutch Guitar Awards (DGA) in 2009. After earning his master's degree with top marks in 2014, Junhyung began his doctoral research at the Orpheus Institute and Leiden University. Since 2009, he has maintained a performing career while teaching guitar for over 15 years. Specializing in technique coaching, improvisation, fretboard navigation, rhythm, and theory application, Junhyung tailors his approach to meet each student’s unique needs and goals.

Practical Information
Bring your own guitar, plactrum (pick) and jack cable. Amplifiers are provided. Also, remember to bring a notebook or file so that you can make notes.
