This week is Diversity,...
......Equity and Inclusion Week. Currently, there are many students, of whom I was one, who encounter numerous obstacles during their time at TU Delft. I am diagnosed with ADHD, I have irritable bowel syndrome, and I identify as queer and polyamorous.
During my study I noticed...
...that for many subjects, I needed more time, or the assignment had to be adapted. I often felt misunderstood or like a failure because I couldn't perform in the same way as many students around me. However, everyone works differently, and with the right resources, I've discovered that I can achieve a lot, in my own way and timeline!
At TU Delft, there are more options than you might think...
...in terms of adjustments for students. However, many students are currently unaware of all the available options. That's why this DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) week is so vital in contributing to greater awareness around the diverse types of students and the various forms of support TU Delft offers. It's essential to show students that they're not alone and that help is available!
Furthermore, there is still much room for improvement...
...to make both education and the campus more inclusive. This includes low-sensory study spaces, nap/meditation rooms, appropriate coaching, alternative assignment formats, flexible study structures, and much more.
Currently, X plays a crucial role...
...in providing a place for individuals to unwind, relax, and form social connections. Particularly for those who haven't found their right fit in a club or society, X offers an accessible and welcoming atmosphere where everyone is invited to have fun and discover and develop themselves. In my (Hiphop and Heels) dance classes, I aim to create a safe environment where everyone can confidently express themselves with joy. Because everyone deserves to study and live on campus with confidence.
