X…
is a place on campus where you can develop in areas that are not always part of the academic curriculum, but invaluable none the less.  X focuses on the needs of young people and has an extensive offer in the fields of sports, games, arts, crafts, reflection & lifestyle. The offer varies from courses, ticket hours, events and projects to, for example, free use of a student kitchen and living room and self-initiated activities and/or programming.

Job description
As a Graphic Designer you are responsible for the design and layout of X's flyers, brochures, posters and all other means of communication, in consultation with your coordinator from Communication. The assignments vary from DTP work within existing formats to challenging design assignments in which you can fully use your creativity. The means of communication are used to promote the complete programme of X. Everything you make is therefore clearly visible within X itself, but also on campus! You work with the official corporate identity of X TU Delft and ensure that you complete the assignments within the agreed deadlines.

You work on an assignment basis. This means that one week you will work more hours than other weeks, depending on the size of the assignment(s). The assignments are, in consultation, divided among the team members. Since assignments are not always known well in advance, flexibility is a must.

Job requirements
You are:

  • still a student at TU Delft for at least 1 year;
  • creative, and you have a great sense of design and style;
  • very accurate and have an eye for detail;
  • able to work independently;
  • proactive and able to ask for input or help;
  • eager to learn and receptive to feedback;
  • able to work in an orderly and structured manner;
  • enthusiastic, flexible and ambitious;
  • regularly available for assignments and can handle deadlines.

You have:

  • knowledge of and experience with graphic design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign;
  • experience in DTP (preparing files for printing) is a plus;
  • your own laptop with the Adobe programs mentioned above;
  • a good command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written;
  • an open attitude and are very interested in other cultures.

Terms and conditions of employment

  • You are willing to commit to the Communication team for at least 12 months.
  • You are flexibly available for 8-16 hours per month.
  • You are available as of 1 December 2024.
  • You will be employed as an on-call TU Delft employee with an all-inclusive hourly wage of gross €21.07. This payment is made up of a basic gross hourly wage of €16.45. To this is added: 8% holiday pay, 8.3% end-of-year bonus and 11.72% leave. You do not build up any reserves, you only receive salary at the time you work.
  • In addition, X offers an attractive package of secondary employment benefits. You will receive an X subscription (including fitness) and an employee discount at Cafe X, for instance on lunch and dinner dishes.

ESA
The university corporate office Education & Student Affairs (ESA) provides educational support by taking care of education and student administration, coordinating education policy, supporting and supervising Dutch and international students and PhD candidates, providing training in teaching and other areas, giving educational advice and support and organising sport and culture activities. ESA is made up of the departments Education Service Centre, Academic Services, Extension School and X. ESA employs around 250 staff. ESA is known within the TU Delft for the high-quality service it provides and has a pro-active and solution-oriented culture.

X
The primary aim of X TU Delft (X) is to stimulate and facilitate the personal development of students and their connection with the academic community at TU Delft. This means that X is a place is a place on campus where you can develop in areas that are not always part of the academic curriculum, but invaluable none the less. X focuses on the needs of young people.

The three pillars of Products, Systems and Communication together make X's offer possible, in which some 15,000 students and staff members participate each year. Themes that underpin X’s programming are lifestyle, reflection, sports, games, arts and crafts. Thanks to the help of students (organisations), teachers and trainers, X is able to provide an attractive programme of courses, ticket hours, events and projects. In addition, students can initiate their own programming and/or activities and can make free use of facilities such as a student kitchen and student living room.

Staff members of X are characterised by their strong ambition to contribute to and participate in the personal development of people in general and students in particular. They are also committed to their own personal development and they have a strong capacity to learn.

Communication
The Communication department uses its expertise to help make X's offer possible. The department is responsible for the positioning, identity and customer experience of X. In daily practice, this translates into the realisation of internal and external means of communication, online and offline customer contact, monitoring of the visual identity, content management, textual, promotional and graphic work and photography. The Communication team consists of 7 permanent employees and is supported by 40 student employees.

Communication manages several student teams, including the Graphic Team. The Graphic Team currently consists of 2 students and we are looking for an enthusiastic 3rd team member!
