Roberto Cavallo
I am especially interested in the question of what we can do now in education to successfully pave the road to the future we imagine.
Background
Roberto Cavallo is Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, where he is currently head of the Section Theory, Territories, Transitions and chair of the group Architectural Design Crossovers. Roberto is especially interested in the question of the future role of engineers and design professionals, and what we can do now in education to successfully pave the road to the future we imagine.
Towards IDEE
When Roberto heard about the call for the IDEE theme Future Engineering Skills, he saw a strong link between the IDEE project and two other projects that he is working on. These projects are both part of the New European Bauhaus: an international and interdisciplinary initiative that aims to collectively imagine and build a future for our living spaces that is sustainable, inclusive and beautiful. In these projects, as elsewhere, Roberto perceives an increasing need for engineers and designers who are able to connect to other knowledge areas, such as social sciences and arts.
As part of IDEE
Given the projects’ shared focus on future skills, Roberto considers himself an enthusiastic sparring partner, who can act as a linking pin between IDEE and other educational initiatives like the New European Bauhaus.
