2024 Open Education Ambassador Awards
We make a difference in the world by sharing information and expertise and to this end TU Delft strongly encourages the open sharing and publishing of Educational Resources (OER). Lecturers are uniquely placed to make a difference in furthering this ideal and in encouraging others to embrace a giving spirit. As a means to recognise the importance of openness, every year, in conjunction with Open Education Week, TU Delft celebrates nine lecturers, one from each faculty and QuTech, who have gone above and beyond to embody the spirit of Open Education.
The nominees are recognised for their steady commitment to sharing knowledge and resources openly and widely, including through the creation of specific open teaching and learning materials. Leading by example, they advanced the position of openness in education within the faculty, the University, and beyond, and ensured that their portfolio was openly available outside the regular classroom. In addition, their efforts may have reached underrepresented learners who, for any number of reasons, would otherwise not have been able to access much-needed knowledge and skills.
Lastly, the award also praises the positive impact these lecturers have made on society by contributing to developing sustainable solutions for today’s global challenges and bringing these to a wider audience. It is an honour to spotlight their work for Open Education and to look forward to awarding more lecturers in the future.
The prizes were handed over to the winners by Willem van Valkenburg, Executive Director TU Delft Extension School for Continuing Education, during an open ceremony on Tuesday 5 March at the Teaching Lab.
