Is your readinglist copyright proof?
The new term will start soon and you will start your course. You will probably use someone else’s work such as literature, articles, book chapters, reports and images to support and sustain your subject.
This has many advantages and is made possible for you as teacher by the educational exception of the Auteurswet. This means that you can make copyrighted material available to your students without the permission of the author (or copyright holder) and a fair compensation must be paid. The compensation is paid by TU Delft via Universiteiten van Nederland (UNL) and Stichting Uitvoeringsorganisatie voor Onderwijslicenties (Stichting UvO).
This means that it is permitted to share resources, under certain conditions with your students in Brightspace. Please share resources that are not published with a Creative Common license as follows:
-
Use preferably links to resources like articles, books, book chapters, reports…
-
Don’ t upload files (PDF’s) of books, reports, manuals etc. in Brightspace unless you have the permission to do so. Always mention that you have permission.
-
Upload only files (PDF’S) of strictly necessary book chapters, reports, manuals, etc. according to the Stichting UvO rules. Keep to the limit of 15 pages where possible: up to 8000 words from a journal or 10000 words from a book (less than 1/3 of the book).
-
Always attribute the source, also when using images in a presentation (powerpoint). Images are used to sustain your argumentation.
Resources shared under a CC licensed can be used in courses under certain conditions. More information about Creative Commons-licenses can be found here or contact the copyright helpdesk.
