Profile
With a background in argumentation theory, STS (science and technology studies), and philosophy, I work on the relationship between technologies and our moral universe. How do new technologies impact the values we hold dear and how do these values, in turn, direct the development of new technologies? I have participated in various EU and Dutch research projects around the socio-ethical dimension of technologies within the energy systems with a particular focus on hydrogen and solar fuels ("artificial photosynthesis"). On a philosophical level, I am interested in fundamental questions regarding the nature of argument, evidence and criticism (including but not limited to fallacy theory) as components of a more comprehensive discursive philosophy of technology.
