Do you scream at your voice assistant? You are not the only one. Siri and Alexa can cause rude communication. Ethicist Olya Kudina (Delft University of Technology) explains how voice assistants influence our behaviour.

In a new series of English lectures of the Universiteit van Nederland (University of the Netherlands), Filippo Santoni de Sio talks about the delicate balance between the 'robot dream' and the 'robot doom'. In his lecture 'How can we keep robots under control?' he explains that you should include human values in the design of a robot from the start of the designing process. Only then can you speak of 'meaningful human control'.

Dr. Otto Kroesen introduces and explains the concept of tribal entrepreneurship. Surprisingly the interview also addresses tribalisation as a way out of the identity crises of people in modern Western societies. In Kroesen's opinion, the tribe could bring back the lost sense of 'we'.

As of January 1, Sabine Roeser will succeed Ibo van de Poel as department chair of VTI. Sabine Roeser is professor of ethics and has worked at TPM since 2001. She has been Section Leader of the Ethics/Philosophy of Technology section since March 2015.

A new book edited by Emad Yaghmaei and Ibo van de Poel on responsible innovation has been published. The open access book titled ‘Assessment of Responsible Innovation: Methods and Practices”, fills the scientific lacuna on responsible innovation assessment.
