Profile
Thorid is a PhD candidate at the Policy Analysis section of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. She uses agent-based modelling and survey data analysis to study transformational climate change adaptation and its relation to social tipping points. She focuses particularly on societal dynamics and policy processes in relation to adaptation to flooding and sea-level rise.
Her PhD is part of the NWO VIDI project A Social Tipping Point: climate-resilient futures through transformational adaptation under the lead of Prof.dr. Tatiana Filatova, together with PhD candidate Joos Akkerman and Postdoc dr. Sofia Gil-Clavel. This project focuses on transformational climate change adaptation and its relation to social tipping points through the use of computational models to better inform climate adaptation policies.
Academic background
Thorid obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University Dresden and graduated cum laude with a Master's degree in Engineering and Policy Analysis from TU Delft, with a focus on household flood adaptation and social networks.
