Dr. Ben Wagner speaks at European Parliament
On 21 June the European Parliament PEGA committee held an exchange of views with the representatives of the NSO Group. TPM Assistant Professor and Director of the AI Futures Lab on Rights and Justice Dr. Ben Wagner attended as a speaker and discussed 'Pegasus spyware and the global surveillance industry.’ He elaborated on what the EU can do to reduce or even prevent harmful surveillance.

Gerdien de Vries in OV Magazine over gedoe rondom openbaar vervoer
Voor ov-gebruikers zijn de ov-chipkaart en bijbehorende handelingen gesneden koek. Maar voor wie gewend is aan de auto, is de chipkaart of zelfs het hele ov een onbekende wereld. Het idee dat een reis met trein of bus een hoop gedoe is, belemmert de overstap van auto op ov – zelfs voor wie bereid is tot duurzamer gedrag. Gerdien de Vries: "Mensen die best openbaar vervoer willen gebruiken, worden afgeschrikt door rompslomp."

Seda Gürses and Femke Snelting will be speaking at a seminar of Deradicalizing the City on Wednesday the 22nd of June (15:00-17:00h) in Leuven. The seminar series examines how the current ‘war on terror’ and the policies of deradicalization impact and actively reconfigure institutional discourses and practices on urban insecurity, and whether and how they fundamentally reshape notions of belonging and the experience of in/security among the residents of these neighbourhoods.
