Technology Entrepreneurship and Health
Description
The Technology Entrepreneurship and Health course has a specific focus on the healthcare systems. You will learn the theoretical fundamentals of entrepreneurship and technology within the context of health and life science. Using a case study of an existing health start-up, you will analyse its entrepreneurial journey, how it fits the broad technology development process and how it navigates the health system to find a way to deliver its services to healthcare institutes in a sustainable manner. Throughout the course you will develop the skills to analyse the emergence of innovative business opportunities and how these are exploited. Using proven content, methods, and models for new venture opportunity assessment and analysis, you will learn how to analyze the commercial potential of implementing new technologies either by analyzing social challenges or analyzing the value of technology for various user applications. Innovation, opportunity recognition, strategic decision making, business modelling, marketing and early growth stages of high-tech start-ups growth are core elements of the course.
What to expect?
In the class you will work in three learning blocks and you will work in a team to analyse the early growth of an existing health-based startup. Each learning block has interactive class discussions about concepts and theories which you will apply to better understand the initial idea identification of a startup, how to reimburse the value it has created for healthcare provides and the business model it has developed. Each ;earning block has an assignment and a peer review session and the course will conclude with a final presentation of your case analyses.
