Profile
Dr. Zhengxuan Liu was appointed to the position of Marie Sklodowska Curie Research Fellow at Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft, on October 1 st, 2022. He is also the Lecturer (for Course AC 3) and Assistant Lecturer (for Courses ABE 009 and ABE 013) at TU Delft. He was selected 2024 Stanford Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists.
His research interests mainly focus on Sustainable Urban Energy Transition, Smart Building and Intelligent Community, Net Zero (carbon and energy) Technologies, Building-to-Grid Integration, Advanced Control and Optimization for Multi- Energy Integration, Digital Technology Application and AI, Health & Comfort for Indoor Environment, Hydrogen Energy Storage and Fuel Cell Thermal Management, and Techno-economic Analysis.
Dr. Liu started his Postdoctoral research works at TU Delft on June 18th, 2021. He was a joint PhD candidate between Hunan University and University of Lyon-ENTPE, and obtained his PhD degree in June, 2019. Dr. Liu was the Assistant Dean of Institute for Sustainable Urbanization & Construction Innovation in Hunan University before coming to Delft.
Dr. Liu is currently the Executive-Chair of China Chapter (with over 800 members) of Marie Curie Alumni Association that is an official international organization established and supported by the European Commission, and managing over 60 members team.
Dr. Liu has authored over 80 research outputs by March 2024, including over 45 SCI papers (33 of them as the first or corresponding author, two ESI Highly Cited Paper), one Elsevier book and 8 invited book chapters, and 35 patents.
Dr.Liu has successfully led 4 research projects as PI (Principal Investigator), and conducted 6 research projects as Sub-topic leader, Project Secretary or Assistant Coordinator. In 2022, Dr. Liu was won with the "Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships" (Approved funding of € 203,464.32 with a selected rate of about 13%), and honored as "Vebleo Fellow" which recognizes researchers or scientists who have prominence and leadership in the field of science, engineering, and technology.
Dr. Liu has conducted a number of courses with a total of over 120 hours of class time. He has attended and made presentations over 10 public seminars. In addition, he has been co-supervising 4 PhD and 15 Master students in their research.
Dr. Liu is the Associate Editors of 3 well-known SCI journals, i.e., Humanities & Social Sciences Communications (Nature subjournal, JCR Q1, IF=3.5), and Journal of Housing and the Built Environment (JCR Q2, IF=1.9), and Energy Exploration & Exploitation (JCR Q4, IF=2.2). He is the Youth Editor of Building Simulation (JCR Q1, IF=6.1). He is also the Editorial Board Member of 8 international journals (e.g., Buildings, Sustainable Horizons, etc.), and the Lead Guest Editor of over 6 Special Issues for Frontiers in Energy Research, Sustainability, and Processes, etc.
Dr.Liu was a reviewer of over 20 SCI international journals with over 340 peer review experiences, e.g., The Innovation, Applied Energy, Energy Conversion and Management, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Building and Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, Energy and Buildings, etc.
