Academic background

I am a Zimbabwean urban and regional planner, and Postdoctoral Researcher with a PhD degree in Urban Planning and Management from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. My work focuses on risk perceptions and Governance in Europe and the Global South. In the recent past, I studied governance rearrangements and their influence on flood-risk management, as well as the flood risk perceptions and motivations for flood damage mitigation among different actors in Kampala, Uganda. At TU Delft, I focus on institutional diagnosis for adaptive alignment and stakeholders’ flood risk perceptions in the Dutch delta region. I also seek to understand how their perceptions can inform the (re) design process in resilience building processes and activities in the region and how perceive both old and new designs. Additionally, I have an interest in housing, informal settlements, and governance of sustainability transitions. Over the past 14 years, I have been involved in teaching, curriculum development, and education management in Social Sciences and The Built Environment.
