Embassy Science Fellowship
The Embassy Science Fellowship (ESF-NL) programme allows researchers to experience the world of diplomacy and use their scientific knowledge to help shape Dutch foreign policy. By working with embassies and consulates, they help improve scientific cooperation with other countries. This programme is a joint effort by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NWO, as part of the Science Diplomacy Fund (SDF). It also involves the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. Besides contributing to Dutch foreign policy, the programme gives researchers a chance to see how their field works in different countries. Living abroad temporarily and building international networks offers great personal and professional value.
