Profile
Personal Background
Michele Mirra is postdoctoral researcher at Delft University of Technology. His research lines are mainly linked to the conservation and structural upgrading of existing and heritage constructions, from both the static and seismic point of view. In particular, he is actively involved in the following areas:
- Characterization biological degradation phenomena in wooden foundation piles, and investigation of the influence of decay on their load-carrying capacity;
- Seismic characterization of traditional timber diaphragms and their connections to masonry walls, in the case of both as-built and strengthened structural elements.
- Conservation and retrofitting of existing monumental buildings, with specific reference to their timber structural members
