Profile

Biography

While pursuing a bachelor’s in Mechanical engineering, Mihir was into automobiles, developed a background in CAD and structural analysis, and manufactured vehicles for various student competitions. However, climate change and environmental sciences were topics that always interested him and eventually triggered him to take up these topics quite seriously. This is when he decided to pursue his Master’s at TU Delft, in Sustainable Energy Technology, studying detailed aspects of wind, solar, and storage. Wind turbine design and multi-disciplinary optimization interested him the most and he took up a thesis where he worked on detailed rotor design for an offshore wind farm. Following that, he was lucky enough to start a PhD in a similar domain but for wind-based hybrid systems. He is currently exploring revenue-based wind turbine design where he is looking at the impact of future electricity market prices on rotor diameters for both onshore and offshore sites. He is also working on wind-solar-storage systems where is looking at different aspects: Revenue maximization by participating in energy and ancillary services markets; Flexibility of these hybrid power plants and their effect on power ramps.
Other than work, he’s totally into dance. You can find his and his partner’s dance videos here: www.youtube.com/c/RMoves/featured Don’t forget to subscribe :p  Playing table tennis and cooking Indian food are other side hobbies that he enjoys the most :)
