Profile

Projects

In June 2021, I joined the NovAM group as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. S. J. Garcia. My project focuses on the effect of chemical topology on the ice formation and adhesion on smooth coatings. This work is a part of the Marie Skłodowska - Curie Innovative Training Network (MSCA-ITN) project: “Smart surface design for efficient ice protection and control” (SURFICE), which in turn is under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme ( https://www.surfice-itn.eu/ ).

Biography

I was born and raised in the small city of Lahti in Southern Finland. From there I moved to Helsinki in 2015 to study chemistry and mathematics in the University of Helsinki. During BSc and MSc studies I worked in the University's Laboratory of Polymers and Colloids on two different projects focusing on the LCST behavior of a water soluble thermoresponsive poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) and the functions of nanoparticles based on self-assembling amphiphilic poly(2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline)-block-poly(lactide) (PiPOx-b-PLA) diblock copolymers.
