Curriculum
Lukas Schulze Balhorn obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and his M.Sc. in Energy Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. During his studies, he spent one academic year in California at UC Davis as a visiting student via the DAAD ISAP program. He is part of TU Delft since 2021, where he investigates the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in chemical engineering.
Reserch description
As part of the PI Research Group his PhD project focusses on knowledge extraction, optimization, and machine learning in chemical engineering. To reach national and international climate goals a transformation of the chemical industry is needed. In their group they use AI and automation to deliver new decision-making platforms for the chemical engineering field. Together with industry and academic partners they do fundamental and applied research on the mentioned topics.
