J. (Jagoda) Cupać PhD

Profile

Jagoda Cupać is Assistant Professor in the group of Structural Design & Builiding Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Geosciences at TU Delft. She’s been working in the field of glass and façade engineering, in practice and research, since 2010. She holds a PhD degree from EPFL on the topic of Post-tensioned glass beams. As postdoc researcher at TU Dresden, she worked on glass circularity and reuse of end-of-life building components, leading to her present role at TU Delft with a focus on Circular Design of Structures. 

Meanwhile, in education of civil engineering students at EPFL, TU Dresden and TU Delft, she’s been exploring innovative practices, with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity, creative thinking, active learning and open education.

Research interests

The main focus of Jagoda's research is the (re)application of circular practices in the built environment. As a structural engineer she is investigating the mechanical properties of end-of-life building materials, re-designing components for reuse and adaptation, and fostering circular attitudes in the construction sector and society as a whole to support a systemic shift towards less wasteful and more regenerative built environment. This intention translates into collaborations across disciplines and sectors, open science and education, community engagement and co-creation, interdependance and exchange of knowledge, skills and resources. With the aim of establishing networks based on cooperation and care, Jagoda creates synergies between research, art, education and activism.
