Profile

I am a third-year PhD candidate in the Energy & Industry group at the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management. My research explores the potential investment costs of a future chemical plant that can produce sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) using CO₂, water, and electricity. More specifically, I focus on the ex-ante techno-economic assessment of a SAF plant based on electrochemical syngas production via co-electrolysis of CO₂ and water in combination with a Fischer-Tropsch fuel synthesis step.

I work in a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Mar Pérez-Fortes on a project financed by the Dutch government via two grants, “Addressing the multi-scale challenge of electrochemical conversion implementation” and “Sustainable design of multi-scale CO2 electrochemical conversion”. The project includes process simulations of the electrolyzer, plant, and supply chain, as well as analyses of the social and governance issues that can shape CO2 electrolysis to understand its further development and potential role in a sustainable energy transition.

Academic background

I am currently completing my PhD thesis, “Scaling up CO₂ electrolysis” (working title), at the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management of the Delft University of Technology. Before that, I received both my Bachelor of Science in Molecular Science & Technology (2017) and Master of Science in Chemical Engineering (2021) from the Delft University of Technology. During my master's program, I completed the process engineering track as well as a six-month Erasmus exchange (2019) at the Politecnico di Milano.
