Biography

Leslie is currently the Senior Policy Advisor for Research at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM). She has participated in a wide range of research projects involving, among others, transportation planning, sustainable housing development and innovation in energy systems. Her research interests lie in areas of sustainable infrastructure development and environmentally-conscious project planning. However, these days, Leslie is more involved in Research Management.

She received a BSc (Honours) in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and an MSc (Distinction) in Construction Project Management from the University of Birmingham, U.K. She completed her PhD in the Department of Civil Engineering at University of Toronto, Canada, where her dissertation focused on developing a framework for balancing life-cycle costs with life-cycle environmental impacts in residential buildings. She has worked in Antigua for three years, first as a trainee with Roberts Engineering and Construction Ltd., then as a project engineer with the Antigua Public Utilities Authority. She joined the Delft University of Technology in 2003 as a post-doctoral researcher, where she was actively involved with the Greening of Gas project, an initiative aimed at exploring the feasibility of introducing hydrogen to the natural gas network of the Netherlands.

Her current work involves initiating and developing policies for complex problems in the area of Research Management within TPM, coordinating consensus on complex or sensitive issues in the area of Research Policy and Decision Making, and initiating and maintaining negotiation and cooperation structures between parties inside and outside TU Delft geared towards improving TPM's reseach profile.
