G. (Gürhan) Özkayar MSc
Profile
Gürhan Özkayar is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering/Faculty of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on design, development, and implementation of microfluidic chips for label-free isolation of heterogeneous Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs) as a part of the ZonMw project.
He received his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Biomedical Engineering (with full scholarship) from Baskent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2009 and his M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 2015.
Following his master studies on rare cell enrichment by using dielectrophoresis, he joined at Mikro Biyosistemler Inc. (now Cellsway), Ankara, Turkey, as an R&D Engineer and worked on developing microfluidic devices separating rare cells from leukocytes by using inertial focusing, between 2015 and 2019.
Then, he worked on new generation of integrated microfluidic system architecture design concepts having miniaturized peripheral components such as ripple-free micropumps and 3D printed microvalves, and adapting these components to Organ-on-a-chip (OOC) technology during his PhD studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering/TU Delft.
