My research interests cover experimental and theoretical rotor aerodynamics, O&M modeling of large scale offshore wind farms, conceptual design of advanced wind turbines and unconventional wind energty systems and wind energy in the built environment. I am specialist on static and dynamic wind loads on wind turbine rotors and on other components.

He has a broad experience in wind energy research, research management and course development.
His research interests cover rotor aerodynamics, O&M of large scale offshore wind farms, conceptual design of advanced windturbines and wind energy in the built environment.
He is a specialist on static and dynamic wind loads on windturbine rotors and on other components.
Apart from his educational activities at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering he is also responsible for the wind energy education curriculum in the SET 3TU collaboration between University Twente, TU Eindhoven and TU Delft .
He worked as a junior researcher at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering, as a research coordinator of the Institute for Wind Energy and as associate professor in wind energy at the faculty of Civil Engineering of TU Delft.
He was a research fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) at the Universities of Nagoya and Tsu in Japan in 1998 and enjoyed a short sabbatical in Japan in 2010.
He is a former board member of NEWIN (the former Dutch Wind Energy Association) of EWEA (the European Wind Energy Association) and of EUREC (European Renewable Energy Centres).
At present he is a board member of EAWE (The European Academy of Wind Energy) and of NWEA (The Netherlands Wind Energy Association).
Ha advises the association "De Hollandsche Molen" on issues regarding the biotope. i.e. on how to maintain the best possible conditions for keeping Dutch windmills in operation.
He also is a certified volountary miller.
