Dr. D. (Davide) Modesti

Profile

Biography

Dr. Davide Modesti is an assistant professor in the section of Aerodynamics at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft. He earned a M.S.c degree in Aeronautical Engineering from La Sapienza University of Rome in 2013. In 2017 he obtained a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from La Sapienza University of Rome, where he studied supersonic turbulent flows using direct numerical simulation. Afterwards, he has been Research Fellow at DynFluid laboratory in Paris where he focused on turbulent secondary flows. Between 2018 and 2020, he has been Research Fellow at the University on Melbourne, where he used direct numerical simulation to study turbulent flows over drag-reducing riblets.

Expertise

Dr. Modesti's research focuses on high-fidelity simulations of turbulent flows and on the development of numerical methods for computational fluid dynamics. Active research topics include:

  • high-speed turbulent boundary layers
  • turbulent heat transfer
  • drag reduction
  • turbulence over rough and porous surfaces
  • turbulence modelling
  • Artificial Intelligence for fluid mechanics
