Profile

Bio

I am a Marie-Skłodowska Curie Post-Doctoral researcher at the Department of Management in the Built Environment.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Federico II University of Naples, Italy, and an MSc in Architectural Design from RomaTre University, Italy. Additionally, I have a second-level Master's degree in Architecture, History, and Project from Roma Tre University, Italy. During my Master's I spent a semester studying at the Facultad de Architectura y Urbanismo of the Universidad de Chile.
After graduation, I worked as an architect for several years in Chile and Italy.

In 2021, I completed my PhD in Architecture (Urbanism and Evaluation) at Federico II University of Naples, Italy, with a research on 'Wastescape Regeneration: Values, Approaches, and Tools to Operationalize Circular City Models' as part of the H2020 REPAiR project. My research analyzed circularity at two scales: the regional scale, exploring urban metabolism and geodesign as a decision-support system for circular urban regeneration strategies in Naples, and the neighborhood scale, examining 'wasted architecture' and observing circular regeneration processes through bottom-up management and self-management.
This phase of research led me to focus on vacant or transitioning properties, identifying various types of value produced by creative and experimental management.

Currently, with the NOMAD research project - Nomad Management of Urban Development, I am exploring the value of experimental temporary uses of vacant properties, focusing on alternative community practices in some cases in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France.
My research methods are cross-disciplinary, and I employ qualitative methods (participant observation, interviews, questionnaires) to eventually frame quantitative urban analysis, in mapping and impact assessments.
