Biography
Bart Scheeren grew up in Wijchen in between the rivers Maas and Waal. Following on his graduation from secondary school he moved to Delft, to continue his studies at Delft University of Technology. In 2014 he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in maritime technology with honours. Subsequently he started his master marine technology, specialising in ship and offshore structures.
During his master Bart became affiliated with the 4D-Fatigue Joint Industry Project (JIP), for which he is later to graduate with a thesis on the topic of small scale volumetric localisation of acoustic emissions. In preparation for his graduation he partook in a research exercise and traineeship with Vallen Systeme in Icking, Germany. Upon successful completion of both research exercise and graduation Bart obtained his Master of Science degree Cum Laude in 2017.
Simultaneous to finalising his thesis Bart collaborated with prof.dr.ir. Mirek Kaminski to propose HiTeAM JIP. This High-Tech Acoustic Monitoring JIP aims to develop acoustic emission methods to monitor the integrity of highly-loaded low-speed bearings, which are typically found, among many other applications, in offshore heavy-lifting cranes and single point mooring systems. In 2023 Bart obtained his PhD under the promotors M.L. Kaminski and L. Pahlavan on his research performed for HiTeAM. Currently Bart is working full-time on the continuation of HiTeAM.
