Profile

Biography Dr. ir AnneMarie Eijkelenboom is Assistant Professor at the Department of Architectural Engineering and Technology, at the group Indoor Environment. In her work as architect on housing, schools, and healthcare facilities, she focused on user centric design processes and integrated design. When she was in charge of R&D at EGM architects, she set up research on the occupants’ wellbeing in relation to building characteristics of healthcare facilities. Between 2017 and 2021, she conducted her PhD research, while working as an architect. Her doctoral dissertation “Understanding health and comfort of outpatient workers in hospitals, a mixed-methods study” describes relations of the occupant’s preferences for indoor environmental quality and social comfort with building related characteristics and health. Since 2015, she gives guest lectures at several universities and invited presentations about research and healthcare design. Currently, she focuses on comfort and health indoors in relation to changing outdoor conditions because of climate change. She is Academic Career Tracker for the Flagship Cool and Clean buildings, as part of the Climate Action Program of TU Delft.
