A. (Abhas) Choudhary
A. (Abhas) Choudhary
Profile
Biography
Abhas Choudhary is working as a Research Engineer in the Aerospace Manufacturing Technology research group, in close cooperation with SAM|XL. After obtaining a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from KIIT University (India) in 2016, he worked as a Research Associate at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc), focusing on developing structural battery composite materials. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Aerospace Engineering from TU Delft in 2019, where he specialized in Aerospace Structures and Materials (ASM). His thesis research was focused on process understanding of Laser assisted fiber placement (LAFP) and specifically on thermal deconsolidation effects observed in uni-directional thermoplastic prepreg tapes during the heating phase of the process.
His current work focuses on development of a robotic process for sequential spot ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic composites; towards a final application of the process to weld structural clips made of chopped fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites to continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic shell structure in a fuselage demonstrator as part of the EU CleanSky 2 funded STUNNING project.
Expertise
- Thermoplastic Composite Manufacturing
- Welding of thermoplastic composites
- Experimental Characterization
Projects
Automation of sequential multi-spot ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic composite structural elements
