Biography
Francesco holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (2017) and a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering (2019) from the University of Pisa, Italy.
During his master's thesis, he interned at Fermilab in the United States, contributing to the preliminary design of a cooling system for a particle detector. Following graduation, Francesco embarked on a career as a mechanical engineer in the Oil and Gas sector with Softec-Engineering and Baker Hughes in Italy.
Motivated to deepen his expertise, he pursued the Research Master Program at the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Belgium. There, his focus sharpened on turbomachinery aerodynamics, turbulence modeling, and computational methods.
Following a research period at CentraleSupelec in France, where he delved into developing virtual chemistry models for turbulent combustion applications, he became a PhD candidate at TU Delft, dedicated to advancing the numerical modeling of fluid instabilities in high-speed compressors.
